I migrated to Australia in 1986 from my beloved Sri Lanka; I have been back at least three times. Many of my family members are still back in SL.
I now call Australia my home, but I can’t forget where I came from.
In 2007 I took up photography and I’m loving the road to learning this art; I am still developing this skill to this day.
Reflecting back, I should have taken up photography at a younger age; I sure did have the opportunity to do so. But it came down to laziness in the days of film photography.
I would love one day to be able to go back to my birth country and document the culture, the people, and the landscape of this beautiful, tiny nation through photography.
Since the end of 30 years of bloody civil war, raging throughout Sri Lanka, there is lot more accessibility to this raw, healing culture. I would love to capture this.
At the same time, I could also discover my own heritage.
This would be a great photographic journey for me. I hope to undertake soon.
